Architects and interior designers are at the forefront of requests for pools, spas and wellness facilities to be installed in private residences and leisure operations. The more knowledge and understanding they have in this area, the better equipped and more confident they are at responding to such briefs. Likewise, a greater understanding of pool and wellness installations helps when inviting specialist companies to tender for the design and build of pools, spas, saunas and steam rooms.
London Swimming Pool Company’s managing director, Jamie Smith explains, “Speaking with architects and designers, we learned that there are key areas in which they want to build their knowledge, for example, construction considerations, planning the best location for a pool in order to maximise space and light, energy efficiency and finishing materials that complement their creative designs.”
To plug the knowledge gaps, technology award winning Twinscape, designer, manufacturer and installer of the renowned Hydrofloors Movable Floor System for pools has teamed up with, multi-award winning pool designer, LSPC,to develop and deliver a one hour Pool Workshop for architects and designers at their own offices.
Combining the pool design and the moving floor technology in one workshop is a direct result of Twinscape and LSPC recognising that Hydrofloors Movable Floor System for pools, which have become so popular in the last couple of years, are still a mystery to many. These questions illustrate the need for more proactive education:
“What are the space requirements?" “How does the moving floor technology actually work?” “Where does the water go when the floor is raised?” “Is the raised pool floor as safe to walk on as a normal floor?”
These are just some of the questions that LSPC and Twinscape are asked regularly – all are addressed in the Pool Workshop, along with the following topics:
The one hour Pool Workshop concludes with an open discussion and Q&A. Attendees receive a handout on the points covered in the session and the speakers are at the end of an email or phone for follow up questions. Attendees will also receive a CPD certificate shortly after the workshop.
Jamie summed up the benefit of the workshop, “Whether an architect or interior designer is asked to incorporate a pool or spa in a new build or refurbishment project, the Pool Workshop provides valuable insights that will impress clients and make their job that much easier.”
To request a free workshop at your practice, email LSPC or Twinscape or alternatively call Jamie Smith on 020 8605 1255. At present, the workshop is available to practices based in London and the Home Counties.
Located on the magical Kiawah Island in South Carolina, this stunning outdoor swimming pool was the ‘brainchild’ of several minds – the family who owns the pool, the architects, contractor, pool designer, interior designer and Twinscape.
More DetailsBehind the design and build of every private pool featuring a Twinscape movable floor, there is the client’s desire to make the best and most creative use of the space in their home.
More DetailsTwinscape’s latest project was recently completed in London. The client had a young family who enjoyed swimming, but they also wanted a play area that was secure, safe & dry.
More DetailsA client in Suffolk chose a movable floor for his swimming pool on the suggestion of the architect. This was not the first swimming pool the client had having previously installed one at another of his homes and this house did already have a pool but it needed renovating. The architect suggested they rebuild the whole pool to incorporate a movable floor and make the area into a flexible entertainment space.
